Grain of Fracture functions as a physical record of the visceral textures found throughout the industrial alleys of Euljiro and Sewoon Sangga. Driven by a desire to document the pervasive wear and tear of the area, the work captures the raw aesthetic of exposed, aging concrete molds, settling dust, and weathered surfaces. The canvas is approached not as a flat plane for representation, but as a site of construction. To accentuate this documentation, the very products manufactured and sold in these districts—such as wire mesh and metal hardware components—are embedded directly into dense layers of heavy material. This intensive accumulation of matter builds a highly tactile, organic relief, transforming the traditional canvas into a living archive of the city's raw, fragmented landscape.
