About the exhibition

Now, as we finish the journey called graduation and face another beginning, we stand between arrival and departure. Seven artists who have traveled different paths arrive at a single platform and meet the moment where their journeys intersect. Seven artists take part in this exhibition. A small coincidence that began with the number seven leads to the infinite value '√7 (= Route 7)'. Just as √7 never resolves into a whole number and goes on endlessly, our work too resists being defined by a single answer and expands along the time, experiences and thoughts each of us has built up. Seven works that began from different questions each form their own world and connect into a single journey. Visitors become travelers on a train, passing through each artist's world along seven routes. While traveling through others' worlds, we hope you will encounter unfamiliar questions and emotions, and at the end of the journey take time to reflect on where you started from and where you are heading. The 42nd Graduation Exhibition of the Western Painting major, Department of Fine Arts, College of Arts, Chonnam National University, 《√7: 도착과 출발 사이》 (√7: Between Arrival and Departure), is a platform for facing the time the seven artists have passed through and moving in a new direction. Artists who have walked different paths meet here for a moment, share their views and prepare for a new journey. And now, we declare that √7 is a journey without end.
