About the exhibition

A ball leaves the hand easily. It already holds a direction before it is thrown, and the moment it leaves the fingertips it is no longer mine. The ball bounces and rolls, veering off at unexpected angles. It may not land where it was meant to. Still, in the end, it reaches somewhere. Each of us has been throwing something in our own way. Over four years, with our own angles and strength, holding different languages and materials, we have made trajectories. It is hard to say those trajectories were always accurate. Some strayed from where we aimed; some drifted in directions that never came back. Even so, we did not stop, because bouncing away was itself a way of moving forward. Is where we are headed really a fixed coordinate? This exhibition is a record of us, who have kept throwing something within that question. It does not try to prove a particular landing place; it makes visible the marks left by our movements so far. Whether each of us has landed where we planned or somewhere unexpected, it shows that every landing can be an arrival. 〈튕겨져 나가 아무데나 꽂히곤 하지〉 (Bouncing Off, Landing Anywhere) is the graduation exhibition of the Department of Painting at Sookmyung Women's University, capturing the moment when different trajectories cross in one space. As trajectories interweave, each work stands on its own while brushing past the paths of the others. Here, where countless directions overlap, we finally face the trajectories each of us has reached.
